What is Open Edge EV and how does it work?
Open Edge EV is a real-time sports betting scanner that finds positive expected value (+EV) bets, arbitrage opportunities, and middles across 20+ sportsbooks and 130+ sport leagues. We use sharp-book odds to calculate true probabilities, then flag any sportsbook offering better odds — giving you a mathematical edge on every bet.
Do I need to be an experienced bettor to use Open Edge EV?
No. The scanner does all the math for you — finding +EV bets, calculating Kelly Criterion sizing, and identifying your edge. You just need sportsbook accounts to place the bets. Check our blog for beginner guides on +EV strategy.
What's the difference between Pro and Max?
Pro ($49.99/mo) gives you full access to the +EV scanner, arbitrage & middles scanners, bet tracker, email alerts, and Kelly sizing across main markets (moneylines, spreads, totals). Max ($99.99/mo) adds player props (NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAAB, NFL), all additional markets (alt spreads, alt totals), and seamless Bet Slip integration for one-click bet placement.
Billing & Account
How do I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Go to your Account page and click "Manage Subscription". You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime. Upgrades are prorated; downgrades take effect at the end of your billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Every plan comes with a 3-day free trial — you won't be charged until day 4. If you need to cancel, just do it from your Account page before the trial ends. If you have billing issues after that, email support@openedgeev.com and we'll help.
I forgot my password
Click "Forgot Password" on the login page. We'll send a reset link to your email address. If you don't receive it, check your spam folder or contact support.
Using the Scanner
I'm not seeing any +EV bets — is something wrong?
The scanner only displays bets with a genuine mathematical edge. During off-season or slower periods there may be fewer opportunities. Make sure your sport, market, and sportsbook filters aren't too narrow. Also check that you're viewing the right market tab (Main, Alternate, or Player Props).
How often are odds updated?
Data refreshes depend on your plan: Pro updates every 60 seconds, Max every 10 seconds. Faster refresh means you see edges before they close — which is critical because +EV opportunities can disappear within minutes.
What is the Bet Slip feature?
Bet Slip is a Max-only feature that provides direct deep links to place bets on your sportsbook. When you find a +EV bet in the scanner, click "Bet Slip" and you'll be taken directly to the betslip on the sportsbook's site with the bet pre-loaded. This saves time and helps you capture edges before lines move.
What player props are available?
Max plan includes player props for NBA (points, rebounds, assists, threes, blocks, steals, combos), NHL (goals, saves, shots on goal, power play points), MLB (home runs, hits, strikeouts, RBIs), NCAAB player props, and NFL player props. All scanned for +EV across 20+ sportsbooks.
Strategy & Methodology
How is EV calculated?
We use no-vig odds from the world's sharpest books as the fair-value benchmark. The vig is mathematically stripped to calculate the true probability of each outcome. When a sportsbook offers odds better than the true probability, that's a +EV bet. This is the same methodology used by professional sharp bettors.
What is the Kelly Criterion and how do I use it?
The Kelly Criterion is a formula that calculates the optimal bet size based on your edge and the odds. It maximizes long-term bankroll growth while managing risk. Open Edge EV calculates Kelly % automatically for every bet — you can set a fractional Kelly multiplier in your settings (most users use 25-50% Kelly).
Will I get limited by sportsbooks?
Profitable bettors do eventually get limited by some sportsbooks. To extend account lifespan: diversify across many books (we cover 20+), mix in recreational bets, use promos, and round bet sizes. Check our blog article on avoiding limits for detailed strategies.
What sportsbooks do you support?
We cover 20+ major US sportsbooks including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, bet365, Bovada, BetRivers, ESPN BET, Fanatics, Hard Rock, PointsBet, WynnBET, and more. The full list is visible in the scanner's sportsbook filter.
Alerts & Notifications
How do email bet alerts work?
Go to Settings and enable email notifications. Set your minimum EV% threshold, odds range, and select your sportsbooks. You'll receive an email whenever new bets matching your criteria are found. Max subscribers also see Bet Slip links directly in the email.
Can I set alerts for specific sports or markets?
You can filter alerts by minimum EV%, odds range, and preferred sportsbooks in your Settings page. The alert system sends all qualifying bets in a single email notification.
